Zlatan Ibrahimovic awakened LA Galaxy’s club record for goals in a season in their victory over Sporting Kansas City on Sunday night and netted a hat-trick.
Even the 37-year-old scored his 25th, 24th and 26th goals of the campaign snap a four-match winless run.
Ibrahimovic scored his first goal after his initial penalty was rescued before surpassing Carlos Ruiz goalscoring record with 2 strikes.
Uriel Antuna, joe Corona plus a dual from Sebastian Lletget assisted Galaxy for their victory.
Ibrahimovic has now scored 48 goals in 51 games at the MLS.
“I think I’m the best ever to play in MLS. And that’s without joking,” Ibrahimovic said.
“Scoring goals is easy, you only need to be similar to Zlatan and it is forthcoming,” said the former Manchester United striker, who is two aims behind top scorer Carlos Vela.
“I attempt to assist the staff in the best way and that is by accomplishing goals. I scored and I must keep going, I need to help my team and that is to score goals and make it easier.
“it is a great outcome, it turned out to be a fantastic game.
“The outcome says something else however, the first half was very even, we performed against a good team which plays great football. In the second we were more powerful and we were scoring so that has been the distinction once we obtained the chances.
“It is fine, we still have four games to go. To acquire, to receive the confidence to score several goals for the target gap. Everybody did a good job, even when we had been a little bit tired at the end, however, we did a good job.”
LA Galaxy moved into fifth place in the Western Conference, a point forward of San Jose and two in front of Portland.
