Toronto Wolfpack claim Sonny Bill Williams is interested in joining them

All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams has voiced an interest head coach Brian McDermott has shown.
The Canadian ensemble intend to follow up in their approach to the dual-code international when his Rugby World Cup responsibilities are over and are on the lookout for signings following their promotion from the Championship.
McDermott says Toronto would like to bring in a David Beckham-type player to perform Williams fits the bill and what the Manchester United favorite failed LA Galaxy.
Sonny Bill Williams has demonstrated interest in us and thats what it is at the moment, said McDermott.
He is currently busy with the World Cup so that I wouldnt ever dare to suggest he is more than interested in coming but the response wasnt ano after we made contact so that is something we want to follow up.
Mining magnate David Argyle has, bankrolled from their formation three decades back toronto, who do not take any funding and he stays committed to bringing despite stepping down as chairman.
Our team might want a name that is absolutely international that everyone would recognise and help the profile of the sport, very much like David Beckham failed for Major League Soccer, said McDermott.
But hed have to be a very good player also, he has to be able to perform the job I need him to do. There would be no participant or merely a player.
So, whoever it may be, you go mention the five highest-profile baseball players – league or union – around the world and we would be interested and our team would get those.
David Argyle will resource each one of these signings.
The Wolfpack spent heavily recruitment following the appointment of former Leeds boss McDermott 12 months past and director of rugby Brian Noble claims that the strategy is to maintain 90 percent of the players that helped gain promotion.
McDermott will aim to finalise deals before the start of instruction on November 10 and claims key aims have been already identified by the club.
We need at least four gamers – somebody in front, an outside back, a rear row and someone around the ruck area – and we now have just four players there that we have identified, he added.
We have been around with recruiting all year but the truth is these people we were talking to were not sure whether wed be in Super League or not well be having more solid conversations now.
Toronto realised their plan to achieve Super League with just two years to spare and McDermott says that the priority in 2020 will be to avoid relegation.
The simple truth is we want to survive first, he said. You look at what London Broncos did so year, which I thought was really good and they won a load of matches, but the lively was that everybody around them won a lot of games too so they finally ended up becoming relegated.
So survival for certain is that the reality of what weve got to do but gently look a little further towards the top end than the end.
