Karl Burke is confident Laurens will be the”one to beat” when she goes to get a repeat success in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday week.
While the filly has just won one of the four races this year, the John Dance-owned four-year-old did add into her Group One tally in Deauville.
Time she out was just denied more than seven furlongs in York and despite defeat Burke feels she is even quicker this term.
“This time she arrived to Leopardstown after conducting within a mile and a half in York and she was a 10-1 chance. This year she’s the one to beat when she goes there in her normal form,” said Burke.
“We dropped her back to seven furlongs time to test her speed with a view to running in the Prix de la Foret around Arc weekend, but Leopardstown has always been the large goal for the second half of her period.
“She is a larger, more powerful mare this season and in my view, she has become that little faster.
“She’s been an remarkable mare for everybody, our very first Classic winner, and together with the welcome we obtained in Ireland last yearwe always wished to go back.”
Burke is very likely to have two runners on Irish Champions Weekend.
He told irishchampionsweekend.ie:”Kelly’s Dino is likely to go for Kilternan Stakes. He came in great shape out of this Ebor. Raydiance (Irish Stallion Farms EBF”Sovereign Course” Handicap) can also be on the ticket,”
