ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Format

The group stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will see a single set of ten groups, with each team playing the other nine teams at a round-robin format. The best four teams in the conclusion of the group stage will advance to the knockout stage comprising of a closing plus 2 semi-finals. The winner from each semi-final will then battle it out for the trophy at the final.

Australia batsman Shaun Marsh has been ruled out with a forearm of the remainder of the Cricket World Cup 2019. The Australia group has announced wicketkeeper-batsman Peter Handscomb as a replacement for Marsh.

Andre Russell has been ruled out of this ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 because of a knee injury which had bothered him throughout the tournament. The West Indian all-rounder has been substituted in the 15-man group by batsman Sunil Ambris that has represented his country in six one-day internationals, scoring 316 runs at an average of 105.33. Ambris is set to join with the team before their must-win tie against India on June 27.

Injured Shikhar Dhawan Ruled Out of Cricket World Cup 2019 (19-June-2019)

The Indian team has been dealt a huge setback as opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 because of a fractured left thumb. Dhawan, who sustained the injury while batting throughout the game against Australia, had been under observation for over a week. The Indian team management has requested the ICC for Rishabh Pant as a replacement for Dhawan from the group.

Injured Shikhar Dhawan to Miss Three World Cup Matches (12-June-2019)

India opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan suffered a thumb injury in the game against Australia last Sunday along with his participation in the rest of this World Cup is in doubt. Dhawan was hit on the thumb by a climbing Pat Cummins delivery and was sent for scans that showed a hairline fracture. He’s currently under the observation of the group direction and can be set to miss India’s next three games – against New Zealand, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Rishabh Pant has been called in as cover for Dhawan.
